Barbara Judith Schatzman

Barbara Judith Schatzman (née Goldstein), a cherished wife, devoted mother, beloved grandmother, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 79 on Thursday, June 19, 2025, in Monroe Township, New Jersey.

Born on September 14, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio, Barbara spent her formative years in Fairlawn, New Jersey. She pursued her higher education at Monmouth University, where she met the love of her life, Larry Schatzman. After their marriage, Barbara supported Larry during his two years in the Army, living in Laurel, Maryland. Upon their return, they established their first home in East Brunswick, New Jersey, where they lovingly resided for 52 years. Three years ago, Barbara and Larry embarked on a new chapter, moving to Monroe Township, where Barbara quickly embraced her new community, delighting in meeting new friends and engaging in various activities.

Barbara began her career as a dedicated teacher. After raising her children, she transitioned to a fulfilling role in clinical research at Hilltop Research, where her meticulous nature and kind demeanor were greatly valued.

Barbara’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Jake (23), Jack (21), Mason (20), Lexi (17), and Ellie (17). She radiated pride in her children and grandchildren, celebrating all their accomplishments, big and small. Barbara was renowned for her unwavering loyalty as a friend, always ready to lend an ear or offer support. Her warm and engaging personality meant she loved talking to anyone and everyone, unfailingly leaving them with a smile.

Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Larry Schatzman; her loving children, Stephen Schatzman and his wife Bonnie, and Meredith Berlin and her husband Mitchell; her brother, Glenn Goldstein; her sister-in-law, Rosalyn Damsky; and her five adored grandchildren.

She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, friendship, and unconditional love, and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A funeral service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held 1:00 PM, Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ 0890. Burial will follow immediately at Van Liew Cemetery, 585 Georges Road, North Brunswick Township, NJ 08902

A reception for family and friends to share memories will be held after the burial at Greenbriar at Wittingham Clubhouse, 160 Half Acre Road, Monroe Township, NJ 08831
