Benita E Garcia

Benita Garcia, lovingly known as "Beverty," 79, of Parlin, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on March 23, 1947, in Fajardo, Puerto Rico to Domingo Garcia, Benita moved to New Jersey at the age of 15. She later attended Franklin High School and went on to build a life defined by dedication, perseverance, and love for her family and community.

Benita devoted 33 years of service to Rutgers University, where her strong work ethic and deep sense of responsibility earned the respect of those around her. Her years of hard work reflected the strength and determination that characterized every aspect of her life.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Kevin Middleton, Shary Monique Middleton, Wanda Renee Middleton, and Anthony Middleton; her grandchildren, Tanya Middleton, Clarence Middleton III, Louis Middleton, Emilia Middleton, Vera Middleton, and Nadir Middleton; her great-grandchildren, RaNiha Paige, Tyree Paige, and Sergio Morales; her aunt, Melanie Roche; her uncle, Antonia Zacheus; her special sister-in-love, Shirley Middleton; her sister, Tracy Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son, Clarence Middleton.

Benita will be remembered for her unwavering strength, devotion to her family, and the love she shared so freely with others. As a foster parent, she touched many lives with her kindness, resilience, and steady presence.
