Charlotte Rahn (87) of Highland Park died on July 3, 2013 in New Brunswick. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was a resident of Highland Park for the past three years, Lawrenceville and West Windsor prior. Mrs. Rahn earned her college degrees while bringing up two children – Associate in Arts from Nassau Community College, 1965; Bachelor of Arts from Long Island University, 1968; and Master of Education from Trenton State College, 1972. She emphasized to her daughters the importance of getting a college degree before having children. She worked several years as a social worker in Trenton, and taught English and French at a parochial school. Mrs. Rahn was commended by Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders for her 3 years of service as a member of the Mercer County Human Services Advisory Council, and thanked by West Windsor Township for her services as a volunteer member of the Library Committee. Mrs. Rahn travelled the world and lived in various countries with her husband, Michael M. Rahn (pre-deceased), related to his employment as a mechanical engineer with Mobil Corporation – including London, England, Oslo and Stavanger, Norway, and Indonesia.
Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Kenneth Niemi; daughter, Francine Rahn; and grandchildren, Sarah, Elena, and Ethan. Pre-deceased by husband of 63 years, Michael M. Rahn, and sister Beatrice Paige.
Funeral Services will be Friday, July 5, at 11:30 a.m. at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, 222 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick. Interment will be in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin.
