Elaine was a founding member of Temple Sharey Shalom in Springfield, NJ. She served on the board and went on to become a religious educator and Principal of the religious school. She had a strong presence at the synagogue, and educated students in Judaism for many years. She is still fondly remembered by her students.

When Elaine gave up driving at age 92, she moved to Monroe Village in Monroe, NJ. There she was active on the board, ran discussion groups, called bingo and had many friends and card groups.
