Evelyn R Goldberg

Evelyn Ruth Goldberg (nee Scheichet), of Monroe Township, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the age of 96. Known to most as Esther, she grew up in the Bronx, the youngest child of Solomon and Rebecca Scheichet. Her parents and two older sisters, Nettie and Violet, came to America from Russia at around the time of World War I. Esther, her sister Rose and her brother Herbie were born in New York City. After marrying her husband Larry in 1949, they eventually moved to Piscataway, NJ and raised three sons, Eric, Barry, and David. She was a member of the Highland Park Conservative Temple from the time she moved to NJ in the late 1950’s. A fund-raiser for many local charities, she also carried on her mother’s tradition of hosting Passover and Rosh Hashanah for extended family. She and Larry celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary before his death in 2018. She will be missed by her sons, their wives and partners, Rene, Tracy, and Cindy, and her grandchildren Ian and Phoebe, as well as her many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
