George Edward Rosen, age 83, of Clear Lake City, Texas, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022. George was born November 26, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York to Morris and Emma Rosen. An avid Dodgers fan, George was crushed by their betrayal and became a fan of anyone they played after their move to California.
He attended Cornell University before graduating with an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. George spent almost all of his career at Exxon, working on the design, construction and maintenance of chemical plants around the world. His job provided an opportunity to travel extensively and after leaving New Jersey, he raised his family in The Netherlands, London, Edinburgh and Houston, Texas, where he finally settled.
In Houston, with his wife Lila and their children, but far from the rest of his family, Lila and George found Congregation Shaar Hashalom, where they made lifelong friends who became their second family. In retirement, George said that the best use of his time was participating in all the life events of both sets of extended family and he and Lila traveled the country making sure that they did. When not attending these festive occasions, he loved reading, watching sports, playing Bridge, spending time with his grandchildren and traveling the world with Lila.
George is survived by Lila, his wife of 62 years, son Mark and his wife Helene and their children Adam, Kayla and Jenna; son Scott and his wife Debbie and their daughters Eliana and Talia; sister Arleen Klein and her husband Steven Klein; and brother-in-law Alvin Tondow and his wife Linda Tondow, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
