Dr. Harriet ("Harri") June Aronson died Aug. 24, 2023 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Denton, TX after a long illness. Harri was born Aug. 30, 1929 in New Brunswick, NJ, only child of Herman and Rae Aronson. She completed her MS and PhD in Clinical Psychology at Purdue University and postdoctoral work at Johns Hopkins before accepting a position at University of North Texas where she helped establish a Clinical Psychology program, performed research, and mentored many grad students. Harri retired in 1996 and spent her later years traveling extensively with friends. She was never a dull conversationalist and was widely read, remaining interested in the world around her and continuing to learn into her 90s. Harri is survived by cousins, Lisa Escaloni and David Aronson; and friends, Lenore Rowe, Sharon Jenkins, and Larry Schneider. She was predeceased by her parents; friends, Ellen Lehner and Guydo Correll; and many beloved canine companions. Heartfelt thanks to Harri's devoted caregivers, Deborah Crouse, Cathy Tilbrook, Susan Shackelford, and Cathy Smith, along with nurse Jean at Good Sam. A luncheon and celebration of life will be held at 12PM on Nov. 4 at the UNT Student Union (President Chilton room) in Denton; friends, family, and former students and colleagues welcome.
