Joan Sassenoff, born Joan Brinstein on July 9, 1930, in New Brunswick, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2023, in Monroe Township. She was surrounded by her loved ones in her final moments.
Born and raised in New Brunswick, Joan's adventurous spirit led her to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she resided for a period of time before eventually returning to her hometown. For thirty-five years, she made her home in North Brunswick until she moved to Monroe Township several years ago.
Joan dedicated forty years of her life to the Bristol Meyers Squibb Co. Lawrenceville Division as an administration professional before retiring in 1978. Her commitment and expertise were respected by both colleagues and superiors alike.
Outside of her professional accomplishments, Joan was deeply connected to her community and heritage. She was a longstanding member of Congregation Poile Zedek at the Jewish Historical Society of NJ, both located in New Brunswick. Her involvement in these organizations highlighted her unwavering devotion to preserving and cherishing the long-standing traditions of her faith and culture.
Joan's passing leaves behind a void that will be felt by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her parents Elias and Rose (Schertz) Brinstein, her beloved husband Howard Sassenoff in 1978, as well as her sisters Charlotte and Irma Brinstein and brother Stanley Brimstein. Though they may be gone from this earthly plane, their memories will forever live on within the hearts of those who held them dear.
Joan's journey through life also touched the lives of many nieces, nephews, grandnephews, and grandnieces who will continue to carry forward those cherished memories.
A graveside service will take place on July 27, 2023, at Poile Zedek Cemetery located at 566 - 689 Joyce Kilmer Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ 08901. The service will begin at 11:00 AM. Donation may be made to The Poile Zedek Cemetery Asssociation, 47 Clive Hills Road, Edison, NJ 08820. Arrangements and conduction of funeral services made by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ 088901. Friends and family are invited to join together as we celebrate Joan's remarkable life and bid her a heartfelt farewell.
Joan Sassenoff will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, unwavering dedication to her work and community, and the love she shared with all those fortunate enough to know her. May her soul find eternal peace as her legacy lives on in our hearts.
