Edison

It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Lapidus, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, remarkable person, and brilliant engineer, who left us peacefully on November 8, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born on October 23, 1937, Mark lived through one of history’s most challenging times, surviving the hardships of World War II with courage and determination. Those early years shaped his strength of character and his lifelong commitments to perseverance, kindness, and hard work.

For 65 wonderful years, Mark shared an unbreakable bond with his beloved wife, Tatyana. Together they built a life grounded in love, trust, and laughter; creating a family and a home that became a haven for all who entered.

A brilliant and respected mind, Mark served as Head of Structural Engineering for major chemical factories across Russia. His leadership and innovation left a lasting impact on the nation’s industrial progress and on the many colleagues and protégés who learned from his expertise and example.

Outside of his professional life, Mark found great joy in the things that reflected his thoughtful and creative nature. He was passionate about chess—approaching each game with patience, strategy, and a sparkle of joy. He loved fixing and building things, always ready with a tool in hand and a smile on his face, improving his surroundings and lending a hand to anyone in need.

Above all, Mark was the most positive and kind person—someone who radiated warmth and optimism wherever he went. His presence had a way of lifting others, making everyone around him feel comfortable, valued, and cared for. Whether through a gentle word, a helping hand, or a quiet act of generosity, he consistently put others before himself and found happiness in bringing joy to those he loved.

He will be remembered not only for his intelligence and accomplishments, but for his unwavering positivity, humility, and compassion. He found true happiness in his family, cherishing every gathering, every story shared, and every simple moment together.

Mark is survived by his: wife, Tatyana; daughters, Yelena (Matthew) and Natalia; and granddaughter, Sasha who will forever carry his spirit, wisdom, and kindness in their hearts.

May his memory be eternal, and may we honor him always through the love, compassion, and optimism he so generously shared with the world.
