Mark Douglas Tibok

Mark Douglas Tibok, of Highland Park, passed away on August 1, 2026, at the age of 71. 

Born in Perth Amboy on February 24, 1955, Mark was raised in Perth Amboy and at the age of 16 moved to Piscataway. Later in life he made his home in Highland Park, where he lived for many years. 

Mark attended Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High School before beginning a career in commercial printing with Pressman Toy. He also worked for Konica Camera and then as a bus driver for Parker Nursing Home. Later, he returned to Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools as a custodian, where he was known for his kindness, dependability and friendly nature. 

Mark was kind, caring, respectful and humble. He had an easygoing nature that allowed him to connect with people from every walk of life. His favorite saying, "Go slow," perfectly reflected the way he approached life—with patience, gratitude and an appreciation for simple pleasures. 

He found joy in tending to his backyard and creating a welcoming outdoor space where he could relax and enjoy nature. 

Mark deeply valued his Hungarian heritage and took pride in preserving it. He knew many Hungarian words and phrases, often becoming the family member his brothers would call when they needed a translation. 

As a young man, Mark was an active member of a youth fellowship during the 1970s, reflecting his warm spirit and love of community. He also enjoyed singing a cappella with friends, a hobby that continued to bring him joy throughout his life. 

Family and friendships were at the heart of everything for Mark. He especially loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, always eager to laugh and create happy memories together. He cherished the many friendships he maintained from childhood, and his life was enriched by the many cousins, neighbors and friends who knew and loved him. 

Mark is lovingly reunited with his parents, Louis and Helen. He is survived by his devoted brothers and sisters-in-law, Louis and Elaine Tibok, Geoffrey and Pam Tibok, and Alan and Valorie Tibok; his beloved nieces and nephews, Jen, Amy, Greg, Eric, Christian, and Paul, along with their spouses and children; his cherished cousins; and many dear friends who will miss him greatly. 

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at Gowen Funeral Home / Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m., with burial immediately following at Calvary Cemetery of the Magyar Reformed Church, Perth Amboy, NJ.
