Mikhail Knizhnik, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and loyal friend, has passed away. He was the beloved husband of Olga Knizhnik, cherished father of Tatyana and Paul, and proud grandfather to Ian, Nathan, and Daniel.
Born in Uzbekistan shortly after the war, he moved to Moscow at the age of 14 on his own, showing remarkable independence and resilience. He went on to serve in the military and then become an engineer. Mikhail lost both of his parents and suffered a tragic and unexpected loss of his older sister later in life.
With hope in his heart, Mikhail later immigrated to the United States, where he built a new life for his family through dedication and hard work. Exceptionally intelligent, he could recite history from memory and was always engaged in discussions about world events and current affairs.
Mikhail was also cherished by friends and neighbors alike. He was the kind of neighbor everyone greeted, always outside tending to his home, fixing things with skill and care, or offering a smile and conversation.
He loved being outdoors, especially fishing, where he found peace in nature. Mikhail was also a talented cook, known for preparing some of the best traditional dishes, which he shared generously with loved ones.
He will be remembered for his intelligence, honesty, and strength of character and pride he had for his family.
