Rafael Maciel Yanez, 87, passed away at his home in East Brunswick with his loving family by his side. He was born and raised in Mexico. Rafael came to the United States in 1988 and settled in Old Bridge, NJ before moving to North Brunswick. Finally, making his permanent home with his daughter, Ninfa and her family, in East Brunswick, NJ.
Rafael was not educated in school but was a self taught man. He was his "own vet" to his animals, giving medicines, doing surgeries, and general care. Rafael was a great farmer and loved dealing with all animals, especially cows, but not chickens. He was his own maintenance man and a "jack of all trades".
Rafael served as the Mayor of his little village in Mexico for many years. He would always help the poor people of the town and took in the homeless. Rafael cared for these people by feeding and caring for each one, until they were able to stand again on their own two feet , as the saying goes. He would go as far as to pay for funerals for the town's people, give advise and help individuals monetarily.
In his spare time, Rafael, enjoyed shooting especially with guns.
Family was very important to him. Rafael was a young widower with ten children to raise. He took it upon himself to raise two other children besides his own ten. His house was the house everyone would congregate at during the day.
On behalf of Rafael's children they wish to extend an invite to their family and friends to attend the viewing on Friday, July 3, 2020 from 3 - 5:30 pm at his home.
Interment will take place on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Elmwood Cemetery, Georges Road, New Brunswick, NJ.
Arrangements are by the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ.
