In Loving Memory of Sandra Meranchik (Ostrow) June 26, 1931 – June 15, 2025
With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Sandra Meranchik, who left us peacefully on June 15, 2025, in Pennsylvania, just days before her 94th birthday.
Sandra was born on June 26, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York, to Anna Kimmelman and Irving Ostrow. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who lived a life defined by compassion, dedication, and family.
Sandra is predeceased by her beloved husband, Ira Meranchik, her cherished daughters Jill and Ellen, and her parents. She is survived by her loving children: Dori, and Jay and his wife Luci; her son-in-law Jerry; her sister Helen; and her grandchildren: Jamie and husband Sean, Eric and wife Melanie, Elisa, Ashley, Camryn, and Evan. Sandra’s legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Logan, Kayla, Madden, Nicholas, and Sophia, as well as Naomi, Jay, Sherry, Eileen, Diana and many other adored nieces and nephews.
Professionally, Sandra made her mark as a dedicated registrar at Rutgers University College of Pharmacy, where she earned the title of Dean of Registration — a testament to her diligence, integrity, and warmth.
In her personal life, Sandra found joy in life’s quiet pleasures — knitting, reading, and playing Mahjong — but nothing brought her more fulfillment than time spent with family. She will be remembered for her unwavering support, her gentle wisdom, and her steadfast presence. Family was everything to Sandra, and she gave her love without condition.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on June 17th at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ, followed by a celebration of life at Luci and Jay’s home, where all are welcome to join in honoring her memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sandra’s name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America: https://alzfdn.org
Sandra’s legacy of love, strength, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
