Seymour Grodstein, 96, passed away at his son’s home on Monday, October 20, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born in 1929 in Brooklyn, NY, and resided in Highland Park, NJ, for many years.
Seymour was employed by East Brunswick High School in NJ as a math teacher until his retirement, and also worked part-time at Middlesex County College and Rutgers University in New Brunswick for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying skiing, hiking, running, biking, camping, and gardening. He enjoyed helping people and volunteered his time as a math tutor and also supporting local immigrants with their tax forms every year. Mr. Grodstein played a very important part in his children and grandchildren's lives, they were his pride and joy.
Seymour was predeceased by his parents, Julius and Fannie; his siblings, Sylvia, Martha and Nathan; and his wife, Bertha. Mr. Grodstein is survived by his children, Joel Grodstein and wife Grace (Benveniste), Fran Grodstein, and Deena Cooper and husband Robert; his six grandchildren, Leah, Silvi, Ben, Alexandra, Toby and Kaya.
Funeral services will be held 11AM, Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Highland Park Conservative Temple – Congregation Anshe Emeth, 201 South Third Avenue, Highland Park, NJ 08904. Burial to immediately follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ.
