Teresa Colon, a pillar of faith and love, departed from this world on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the age of 87. A devout Catholic, Teresa resided in New Brunswick, NJ, where she was cherished by many as a beloved member of The Legion of Mary at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Born to the late Rosa Perez de Torres and Eugenio Torres Santos, Teresa's life was one of unwavering dedication and boundless love. She was the cherished wife of the late Epifanio J. Colon and the loving mother of the late Epifanio Colon Jr., Nancy D. Colon, Debra Colon, Teresa D. Colon-Martinez (Anderson Martinez Sr).
Teresa's legacy extended beyond her immediate family, as she was a beacon of light to her grandchildren, Oneill Martinez (Nicole Martinez) and Anderson Martinez Jr., and great-granddaughter Xiomara Teresa Martinez. In the embrace of her family, Teresa found joy, and her love knew no bounds.
Throughout her life, Teresa treasured her faith and shared its warmth with all she encountered. Her radiant smile illuminated every room, and her welcoming embrace made everyone feel cherished. Teresa dedicated herself to serving those in need, embodying the essence of compassion and kindness.
Teresa was the final surviving sibling to her late brothers and sisters: Eloisa Torres, Manuel Torres, Severo Torres, Antonio Torres, Juan Torres, Gumersinda Torres, Virginia Cordova, Carmen Rosado, and David Torres. She left many nieces and nephews which she also dearly loved and cherished. Their bond was a testament to the strength of family and the enduring power of love.
Family, friends, and all whose lives Teresa touched are invited to honor her memory at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ, from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. A funeral mass will follow at St. Mary of Mount Virgin Church, 192 Sandford St., New Brunswick, NJ, at 11 am on Monday, April 29, 2024.
Teresa's departure leaves a void in the hearts of many, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly through the lives she touched.
