It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thelma Araceli Choto, who peacefully departed this world on February 05, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in the town of Guastatoya El Progreso, Guatemala, on August 21, 1951, Thelma’s life was filled with love, warmth, and dedication to her family.

Thelma married the love of her life Ricardo on August 21, 1977. Together, they had the joy to build a family. Due to challenges at the time, they had to live apart for a few years, to protect and pursuit a better life for the family. In 1995, Thelma embarked on a journey with her daughter and son to the United States of America, to finally be reunited with her husband in pursuit of a better life for her beloved family. She faced the many challenges of a new country with strength, courage and determination. Thelma’s spirit was unwavering, she found work at Varda Chocolatier Factory, where she served as a skilled machine operator, confectioning luxury chocolates for 15 years.

Thelma will be remembered as a woman of immense resilience, kindness and love. Her warmth and caring nature endeared her to everyone she encountered. Although she always mentioned not to like the kitchen, she was a great cook, she loved watching the cooking channel on TV, to learn new recipes. Her kitchen was always filled with the aromas of delicious meals prepared with love. Thelma really enjoyed nature. During the last years of her life, she loved taking walks and having chats with her beloved Sister Olga and niece Janalee. One of her favorite places was the beach, where she could watch the ocean and feel the breeze caressing her face. Her family held a special place in her heart, and she never hesitated to put their needs before her own.

Gatherings with family was Thelma’s greatest joy, and she took every opportunity to get together with them; celebrate birthdays, holidays, any special occasion and create lasting memories with her loved ones. Her presence could light up any room, and her unconditional love and endless advice was a guiding force for her family.

Thelma is survived by her devoted husband, Ricardo, who stood by her side through thick and thin; her brothers, Felipe and Mario; her sisters, Aura and Olga; beloved sisters-in-law; Flori and Enma; as well as all her nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her daughter Thelma; her son-in-law, Pete, her son, Ricardo Geremi, and daughter-in-law Laura, who cherished her as the heart of their family.

Thelma’s legacy continues through her granddaughters Gianna and Mia who she always nurtured and loved. Her love and wisdom have left a lasting impression on each of their lives.

We mourn the loss of our beloved wife, mom and grandmother, a woman whose love knew no bounds, and whose kindness touched the hearts of all who knew her. As we bid farewell let us celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the cherished memories she leaves behind. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her legacy of resilience, bravery and love continue to inspire us all.
